How to Sell Corporate Training with Seat Licenses on WordPress

Sell Corporate Training with Seat Licenses on WordPress

Selling one course to one person is a transaction. Selling fifty seats to a company is a business, and it is where course revenue stops being pocket money.

But B2B training breaks the consumer LMS model immediately. The buyer is not the learner: an HR manager pays, twenty employees learn, and the manager wants a roster, progress reports, and zero involvement from you in onboarding each person. If your answer is “everyone buys individually and forwards the receipt,” you will not close corporate deals.

Here is the architecture that works, using Learning Spaces from Learnomy Pro (our LMS at Wbcom Designs).

The core concept: a Space is a client academy

Branded corporate learning space

A Learning Space is a branded mini-school inside your site: its own name and branding, its own course catalog (the courses that client bought), and its own member roster. Acme Corp’s employees log into your site but experience Acme Academy, seeing only Acme’s courses and Acme’s people.

One WordPress site, unlimited client academies. No multisite, no per-client installs.

Selling seats, not enrollments

The commercial layer works the way procurement expects:

  • Space plans and seat packs: sell “25 seats of the Compliance Bundle” as a product. The company buys capacity, not named users.
  • The space owner (your buyer: the HR manager, the team lead) fills those seats themselves, which is the point: you sell 50 seats and never touch onboarding.

Onboarding a client team (their job, not yours)

Space owners get a dashboard with a roster and every enrollment tool they need:

  • Invite by email, one at a time
  • Bulk CSV upload for the whole department at once
  • A shareable invite link (expires in 7 days) to drop into the company’s Slack
  • Join requests: employees can find the space and request access, with the owner approving
  • Signup-time space picker: new registrants can land directly in their company’s space
  • Suspend and resume members as people leave and join the company

The report that renews the contract

Corporate training gets renewed when the buyer can prove it happened. Space owners see per-member progress on their dashboard and export progress reports as CSV (JSON too, for their systems). Completion rates, per-course status, ready for the HR file.

Sub-groups make this scale inside big clients: create Engineering and Sales groups within a space, each with a scoped manager who sees only their own team. The L&D head sees everything; the engineering lead sees engineering.

Pair this with verifiable certificates and the compliance story writes itself: every completion has a certificate anyone can verify by QR.

Pricing the offer

A pattern that works for WordPress training businesses:

  1. Individual tier: your normal course pricing
  2. Team tier: seat packs at a per-seat discount (e.g., 10+ seats)
  3. Academy tier: a Space with your full catalog, annual contract, priced per seat band

The same courses earn three ways, and the top tier is the one that compounds: companies renew, individuals churn.

What to check in any B2B-capable LMS

  • Can the buyer manage their own people, or does every enrollment go through you?
  • Do managers see only their team (scoped visibility)?
  • Are progress reports exportable without admin access?
  • Can one site host many isolated client groups?

Most consumer LMS plugins answer no to at least three of these; group add-ons exist across the market, so compare depth, not checkbox presence: our LMS comparison covers where each option stands.

FAQ

Can I sell training to companies from a WordPress site?
Yes. With Learnomy Pro’s Learning Spaces you sell seat packs, and the company manages its own roster inside a branded space on your site.

How do employees get access after a company buys seats?
The space owner invites them: email invites, bulk CSV upload, a 7-day shareable link, or approved join requests. You are not involved per employee.

Can a company see its team’s progress?
Yes. The owner dashboard shows per-member progress, sub-group managers see their own teams, and reports export as CSV for HR.

Do I need WordPress multisite for client academies?
No. Spaces isolate branding, catalog, and roster per client on a single WordPress installation.
