A theme cannot be "HIPAA-compliant" on its own - compliance is a property of the whole stack. BuddyX does not store PHI; it just renders pages. The HIPAA story is built from your hosting (BAA, audit logs), the plugins that store data (intake forms, telehealth, patient records), and your operational practices. BuddyX integrates cleanly.
Can patients message clinicians inside the portal?
Yes, with a HIPAA-grade messaging plugin layered onto BuddyPress. Most practices use a dedicated tool here rather than the free BuddyPress messages, because of audit + retention requirements.
