The dirty secret of most LMS installs is the week after activation: a dozen settings screens, pages to create by hand, a checkout to wire up, and a theme fight before a single lesson exists.

It does not have to work that way. This is the actual first-run experience we designed into Learnomy (our LMS at Wbcom Designs), and it is a useful benchmark for evaluating any LMS: how much of this does your candidate do for you?
Minute 1: Answer one question, not forty
A good setup wizard starts by asking what you are building, not which options to toggle. Learnomy’s wizard offers presets that configure the entire plugin in one click:
- Simple Courses (free content, no selling)

- Train my own team (private, internal)
- School or team seats
- Custom (pick your own modules)
Choosing “Paid Courses” turns on checkout, transactions, and coupons; choosing “Train my own team” hides all the selling surfaces. You are not configuring features, you are describing your project.
Minute 2: Seed demo content (or skip it)

A yoga teacher selling three courses does not need a grading queue, and with modules, she never sees one.
This matters beyond tidiness: every disabled module is less UI for you and your instructors to learn.
Minute 4: Make the words yours
Here is the feature nobody advertises and everybody ends up wanting: Labels. Under LMS Settings, you can rename the core nouns site-wide with no code:
- Course becomes Workshop, Program, or Masterclass
- Student becomes Member or Trainee
- Instructor becomes Coach or Mentor
The renames flow everywhere: menus, buttons, emails, even SEO titles. A corporate academy and a cooking school should not sound the same, and with labels they do not.
URL slugs are equally configurable (Settings > URLs & Pages), so your catalog can live at /workshops/ instead of /courses/ from day one, which beats setting up redirects later.
Minute 5: Create the first course
The wizard hands you off to the Course Builder with everything wired: pages exist, routes work, and payments are one gateway connection away. From here, our step-by-step course creation guide takes over, and when you are ready to charge, connecting Stripe or PayPal takes about ten minutes.
